Production process

Every job at Alpine Stampings' Daman works moves through six steps, from mother coil to packed pallets.

Six steps

  1. Step 01

    Material selection

We match the grade, thickness and coating to the part, and check the coil against its mill test certificate before anything is cut.

  2. Step 02

    Slitting

We slit mother coil, up to 1250 mm wide, down to the width the tool needs. We check the slit edge for burr before releasing the strip to the press floor.

  3. Step 03

    Press setup

We set the tool in the bolster and set the feed to the strip. Nothing runs until the first-piece is inspected and approved.

  4. Step 04

    Stamping

Alpine Stampings stamps on progressive tooling on power presses from 10 T to 220 T, using auto-stack and auto-skew tooling as per customer requirements.

  5. Step 05

    In-process inspection

We keep checking while the press runs, so drift is caught inside the lot rather than at the end of it. What we check at each stage is set out on the quality page.

  6. Step 06

    Packing and despatch

We inspect the lot, raise its report and label the crate. Lot identity is maintained through packing, and the mill test certificate goes with the despatch.

Press shop

The Alpine Stampings press shop at Daman runs power presses from 10 T to 220 T, plus a 300 mm cut-to-length line.

Tooling

Alpine Stampings builds progressive tooling including auto-stack and auto-skew, from tungsten carbide or high-speed steel to suit the part.

Tooling is designed on customer drawings and inspected by us to ensure dimensional accuracy.

Packing

Finished laminations are banded, labelled and palletised so the lot arrives as it left. Lot identity is maintained through packing.

Request a quotation

Send us the drawing with the grade, thickness and monthly volume. If the grade is not settled, say so and we will advise against the application.

What the part is, or the drawing number it is on.

Optional. A target helps us tell you quickly whether the part is worth tooling.
